A Timeless Encounter with Empress Farah Pahlavi

In a moment suspended between history and destiny, I had the profound honor of meeting Her Imperial Majesty Empress Shahbanou Farah Pahlavi at an intimate private gathering in Washington, D.C., hosted by The Nixon Foundation.

The evening paid tribute to the Empress’s lifelong dedication to culture, humanitarianism, and the Iranian people, culminating in a powerful moment where she was presented with a bronze statue in her honor.

The event brought together members of the Iranian diaspora, historians, and dignitaries from across the country, each one moved by the presence of a woman whose grace and resilience have become a symbol of Iran’s enduring soul. Amid the warmth of shared memories and reverence, the highlight of my evening came when I met Her Majesty face to face.

With gentle elegance, she signed my personal copy of An Enduring Love: My Life with The Shah, her deeply moving memoir that chronicles a remarkable life beside His Imperial Majesty, Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi. Her handwritten inscription now stands as a treasured reminder of that moment—a piece of living history etched in ink and spirit.

This experience was not simply ceremonial. It was deeply emotional. In her gaze, I saw the collective memory of a homeland we have never forgotten. In her presence, I felt the quiet strength of a nation still yearning for its voice.

A heartfelt and special thanks goes to Dr. Parmis Khatibi for her tireless efforts in organizing this unforgettable evening. Her dedication made it possible for so many of us to witness a piece of history and to honor a woman who continues to inspire generations with her dignity, wisdom, and compassion.
